SHCRC invites applications by Feb. 15 for capacity building in communication for IEC Officers of Tamilnadu Health Department

The Tamilnadu State Health Communication and Resource Centre (SHCRC) invites applications from qualified and interested organisations to conduct Capacity Building programs on Communication for the IEC Officers of Health Department. Last date for submission is February 15, 2012 (5:30 pm).

Inviting Applications for Capacity Building on Communication for IEC Officers of Health Department

TNHSP, APAC-VHS and two senior public health consultants undertook a Situation/Needs assessment study for the SHCRC. At a State-level IEC Officers' consultative meeting, training needs of the IEC Officers were identified. Based on this needs assessment of the IEC Officers of the Health Department, APAC-VHS (one of the partner organisations of the SHCRC) proposes to hire a single agency/institution with relevant expertise to conduct the trainings and facilitate learnings.

The State Health Communication and Resource Centre (SHCRC) in Tamilnadu serves as:

One stop shop / resource pool
Model comprehensive center on health communication
Integrating health messages in all IEC / coordinated communication
Comprehensive information center on health communication
Repository of IEC materials on health
Availability of all IEC for adaptation and replication (hard copies / soft copies) – produced by different department / different programs
Information center for stakeholders, researchers, communication experts, media personnel, Program Managers, officials in health department, etc.,
Dissemination of communication initiatives on health & health related programs
Undertaking capacity building programs on health communication based on need assessment for :
o State level / district level communication officers
o Developing training manuals to train functionaries at different levels
o Developing master trainers / TOTs
o Working closely with the training institutions and support for manual development
Undertaking communication related researches:
o Developing health communication related toolkits for assessments, evaluations, etc.,
o Tracking the behaviors, awareness levels etc., at regular intervals by undertaking a common study
Sharing soft copies with other states
